The Marinette Classic Film M105 is a 35mm black and white film with a wide sensitivity range and pronounced contrast, offered by Les Ateliers de Marinette. It is based on the Svema A-2SH film material from Eastern Europe and is suitable for a wide range of photographic applications. A roll will be sold for 8.50 euros in 2024.
Info and areas of application
The M105 is versatile due to its high sensitivity and wide exposure latitude. It is particularly suitable for shooting in low light, available light photography and situations where a fast shutter speed is required.
The ability to over- or underexpose the film opens up creative scope for experimental photography. The film is often used in street photography, documentary photography and artistic photography.
Formats and cameras
The M105 is supplied in reused 35mm cartridges and has no DX coding. It can be used in most analog cameras that support 35mm film, including viewfinder cameras, SLRs and rangefinder cameras.
When used in modern cameras or point-and-shoot cameras that rely on DX coding, the film speed must be set manually.
Developing the film
The M105 can be processed in a variety of developers, both standard developers and special black and white developers. The manufacturer’s recommended speed is ISO 400-900, but the film can be exposed from ISO 200 to 3200, depending on the desired results and the type of development. A variety of development times and tips can be found on the Massive Dev Chart.
Digitizing the negatives
The developed negatives from the M105 can be digitized using a variety of methods, such as flatbed scanners, film scanners or by photographing them with a digital camera.
Storing the film
Like all films, M105 should be stored in a cool, dry place to avoid deterioration due to heat or humidity. Storage in a refrigerator is recommended, especially for long-term storage. Before use, the film should be brought to room temperature to avoid condensation.
