The Lucky Super GBR 100 is a color negative film. It is the successor of the Lucky GBR 100 and was later replaced by the Lucky Super 100 New. The film was produced by the Chinese company China Lucky Film Corporation and sold mainly in China.

The Super GBR 100 is specially optimized to produce color images. According to specifications, its sensitivity is ISO 100. For general and recreational use, an ISO sensitivity of 100 proves to be suitable.

Exposure of expired color film

If you can still find a roll of the film today, you can still use it. However, there may be some loss of quality.

Under-exposed images can occur if older film stock is used that has also been stored under poor storage conditions as light sensitivity decreases. Depending on the prevailing conditions, it might be advisable to set the exposure settings to a lower ISO value to avoid underexposure of the photos.

If you use expired color film, you may experience a reduction in color brilliance, changes in hues, and increased film grain. The quality of subsequent photos could be related to the storage conditions of the unexposed film stock.

Development of Lucky Super GBR 100

It is important to protect the film from light after exposure.

The film is developed using the C-41 process, which is offered by most laboratories. Thanks to the standardization of the development process, you always get the same result regardless of the lab, which is an advantage of this process. With the right chemistry and accessories, it is also possible to develop the film at home. After the development process is completed, one receives film strips with the captured images.

It is then possible to make prints of the images or scan them for digital use. Many developing labs offer making prints in various sizes as a service.

Digitization

To further process the photos digitally, one can scan the film strips. It is common practice that photo labs offer the service of digitizing negatives. Alternatively, one can use a scanner for home use. After the photos are digitized, there is an option to either digitally process them or get them in printed form.

Availability and Alternatives

The Lucky Super GBR 100 was produced in 35mm format, which is the most common film format. There are a variety of cameras that support this format, and new cameras are even still being manufactured for the 35mm format.

However, production of color film has been discontinued. The Kodak Gold 200* could be considered as a possible replacement in 35mm.

It is important to note that this film does not produce identical results to Super GBR 100, as each film has its own characteristic properties. There may be differences in color reproduction, contrast, and grain. It is therefore recommended to try different films to achieve the desired look.
