Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition

The Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition is a camera from Lomography. It is a special edition of the 2017 introduced camera. It was exclusively available for launch during the Kickstarter campaign. According to the Kickstarter site, less than 1000 pieces of the camera were produced.

The blue housing of this limited edition is partly covered with brown leather. The functionality is identical to the other LomoInstant Square cameras.

The lens of the Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition is fixed, but can be folded for transport. The focal length is unchangeable and is 95 mm. The largest available aperture is f/10 and the lens is focused manually with a three-step lever on the left side. To get sharp pictures, you have to be at least 80 cm away from your subject. Various attachments can be attached to the lens.

The Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition has a built-in light meter. The Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition has an automatic exposure control and sets aperture and exposure time automatically. There is an exposure correction with one f-stop each.

The camera comes with a bulb mode. The built-in flash provides sufficient light. The range of the flash is stated as 9 meters. There are matching colored filters.

The Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition has a self-timer, a wireless shutter release and a tripod thread.

The camera requires two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*), CR2025 batteries are needed to power the remote control.

Films for the Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition

The Lomo’Instant Square Kickstarter Edition is designed for the Instax Square format according to the user manual. Fujifilm also introduced this format in 2017 and has been producing film for this type of camera ever since.

A picture of Instax Square Film* has a size of 8.6 by 7.2 cm. The actual image is square and has the dimensions of 6.2 by 6.2 cm. It is not completely central and surrounded by a frame. This frame is white and can be painted with suitable pens.

After pressing the shutter button, the camera ejects the picture automatically. The development takes place within a few minutes. In the meantime, the image does not need to be shaken. On the contrary it should not be moved too much.

There are ten images in one package. The film must not come into contact with light and should be stored in a cool and dry place.
