The Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition is an instant camera. It was introduced by Lomography in 2017. This edition of the Instant Square camera has a black housing.
The camera comes with a fixed focal length lens. The focal length of the lens is 95 mm. The maximum aperture is f/10. To make the camera more compact, it can be folded for transport.
There is no autofocus function with the Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition. The focus is adjusted manually with a lever in three steps. The closest focusing distance for this lens is 80 cm.
The Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition has a built-in light meter. The correct exposure is automatically set by the camera. The shutter speed cannot be changed, but there is a bulb mode. The shutter can remain open for a variable time. An aperture below or above you can change the exposure with a button on the back.
The built-in flash provides sufficient light. With a sensitivity of ISO 100 it reaches up to 9 meters. The flash can also be switched off if desired. The Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition has a built-in self-timer, wireless shutter release and a thread for a tripod.
Power is supplied by two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*) and one CR2025 battery is needed to power the remote control.
Films for the Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition
The Lomo’Instant Square Black Edition is equipped with Instax Square films according to the user manual. These were introduced in 2017, are made by the Japanese company Fujifilm and are quite easy to get.
A picture with the Instax Square Film* has a size of 8.6 by 7.2 cm. The actual picture is square and has the dimensions of 6.2 by 6.2 cm. There are ten pictures in one package.
The frames around the film are white and can be decorated with the matching pens. Therefore the instant films are perfect for events like weddings, parties and birthdays.
The image is ejected with a built-in motor. The development starts immediately and you can see the result within a short time. You do not have to shake the picture, you should avoid it.
