The Lomo’Instant Automat Jarb Edition is a special limited edition of the Lomo’Instant Automat instant camera, created in collaboration with Thai artist Mongkol Srithanavilot, known as Jarb. It was presented in April 2024.
Design and inspiration
Jarb’s striking design for the camera draws inspiration from Greek mythology, particularly the goddess Mnemosyne, who represents memory. The camera serves as a creative tool to capture memories and capture unique moments in a distinctive way.
The camera is primarily black and has a striking, artistic print in shades of blue, white and gray. The design features various figures and patterns reminiscent of statues and ancient art. The name “JARB” is prominently placed on the front of the camera in a graffiti-like style.
Functions of the Lomo’Instant Automat
The Lomo’Instant Automat is an instant camera that is characterized by its fully automatic exposure control. Aperture, shutter speed and flash are automatically adjusted to achieve optimal results in every situation.
The included fisheye, wide-angle and close-up lens attachments ensure creative freedom. The camera also allows multiple exposures and long exposures of up to 30 seconds.
The operation is deliberately kept simple in order to encourage spontaneous recordings. At the same time, the Lomo’Instant Automat offers experimental functions for creative photographers.
Power is supplied by two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*), one CR1632 battery is required for the remote control.
Scope of delivery
The Lomo’Instant Automat Camera Jarb Edition comes with extensive accessories to expand your creative possibilities. In addition to the camera itself, three lens attachments are included: a wide-angle, a close-up and a fisheye lens, which give you different perspectives and effects. The lens cap also serves as a remote shutter release for convenient shooting.
A splitzer attachment and colored flash filters are included for further creative design options. The Splitzer lets you create double or multiple exposures, while the flash filters let your photos shine in different colors.
You’ll also receive inspirational shooting tips to boost your creativity, as well as a handy photo stand and photo clips to display your instant photos.
Instant film for the camera
The Lomo’Instant Automat Jarb requires Instax Mini films, which are manufactured by the Japanese company Fujifilm, to capture moments. These instant film films are not included with the Lomography instant camera and must be purchased separately, for example conveniently online.
For lovers of black and white photography, Fujifilm has the Instax Mini Monochrome* on offer. The color film is also available in various special editions (eBay / Amazon*). A pack usually contains a plastic cassette containing the unexposed images. Each film cassette contains ten images, with the price per image being around 60 cents.
