The Nuri is a special edition of the La Sardina from Lomography. The camera was presented on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Nuri company in October 2012.
Nuri is a manufacturer of canned sardines. Made in Portugal, these tins are especially popular in Austria, Lomography’s home country. The design of the sardine can camera was accordingly based on an original Nuri can.
Like the Belle Starr and the Beluga, among others, the camera is not made of plastic as usual, but of brass.
This edition was sold exclusively in Lomography’s online store and was raffled off as the grand prize in a photo contest. The camera, Fritz the Blitz, the matching flash, and the accessories are delivered in a wooden box.
The functionality is identical to the normal La Sardina.
Films for the La Sardina Nuri
According to the instruction manual, the La Sardina Nuri uses 35mm film. 35mm films are still made by various producers. A good choice of film is the Fujifilm Superia 400* for color images and the Ilford Delta 400* for black and white images.
