The Konica Chrome Sinbi 100 SRA is a slide film that was developed by the Japanese company Konica Minolta and was particularly popular with photographers in the 1990s. This film was introduced as an alternative to the more popular slide films from Fujifilm or Kodak. The film is no longer manufactured.

The Konica Chrome Sinbi 100 has a light sensitivity of ISO 100, which makes it ideal for well-lit scenarios, such as daylight shots or studio photography with artificial light.

Developing the film

If you can still find a roll of the film, you can of course still use it.

Exposed films should be developed promptly to maintain their quality. Longer storage is not recommended. The film must be developed using the E6 development process. The development process is carried out by many German photo labs in Germany. At the end of the development, you get classic color slides.

Some photographers experimented with cross-processing (C-41) to achieve unusual color effects, with results using this film often showing subtle shifts in contrast and colors.

Availability and alternatives

The film was suitable for both 35mm and medium format cameras. A roll of color film had space for up to 36 exposures. The 35mm film was equipped with a DX code that allowed the film speed to be set automatically on compatible camera models.

Numerous camera models from various manufacturers were available for the 35mm format, including well-known brands such as Leica, Nikon and Olympus. There was also a wide range of medium format cameras, which included renowned brands such as Hasselblad, Minolta and Pentacon, supplemented by models from other manufacturers.

When Konica stopped producing film in the early 2000s, the Chrome Sinbi 100 also disappeared from the market. An alternative to 35mm film is the Kodak Ektachrome E100G *. For medium format cameras, a replacement for the film would be the Fujifilm Velvia 100*.
