The Flic Film Chrome 100 is a slide film from the Canadian brand Flic Film. The film is manufactured by Kodak in the USA. The film will be sold in the USA in 2024 for around 18 US dollars.
Background to the brand
Flic Film is a brand from the small town of Longview in Alberta, Canada. The Flic Film Chrome 100 is a rewound Kodak Ektachrome 100D (Kodak Ektachrome 100D Color Reversal Film 5294).
Information and areas of application
Chrome 100 is a color-balanced daylight reversal film that is characterized by its extremely fine grain structure, vivid color reproduction and an overall low-contrast profile.
The lower contrast values contribute to a wide dynamic range and neutral tonal scale for greater color accuracy, and a low D-min provides brighter, whiter whites.
It has a medium rated speed sensitivity of ISO 100/21° when developed in the E-6 process, and the smooth grain profile paired with a T-GRAIN emulsion optimized for microstructure makes it particularly well suited for scanning applications.
The film offers outstanding results in field shooting and in the studio where moderate color saturation is desired.
Formats and cameras
The film is available in 35mm format with 36 frames. It can be used in all cameras that support the 35mm format.
Development process and digitization of the negatives
The film must be developed in the E-6 process. This process is a complex chemical process that requires special chemicals and equipment. It is therefore advisable to have the film developed by a professional laboratory.
After development, the images are available as slides. These can be viewed with a slide projector. In order to use the images digitally, they must be digitized. This can be done with a special slide scanner. The scanned images can then be saved on a computer, edited and reused.
Storage of the film material
Unopened films should be stored at 13 degrees Celsius or below. For longer storage, the film should be stored at -18 degrees Celsius or below. After use, the film should be stored again under the appropriate medium or long-term storage conditions as soon as possible.
