The Konica Chrome Sinbi 200 SRM was a slide film developed by the Japanese company Konica and became particularly popular among photographers in the 1990s. This film was offered as an alternative to more well-known slide films such as those from Fujifilm or Kodak. Production of the film has since been discontinued.

The Konica Chrome Sinbi 200 is characterized by a light sensitivity of ISO 200, which makes it ideal for well-lit situations such as daylight photography or studio shots with artificial light.

Developing the Konica Chrome Sinbi 200

If an unused roll of this film is found, it can of course still be used.

Exposed Konica Chrome Sinbi 200 films should be developed as soon as possible to ensure optimal quality. Longer storage is not advisable. Development takes place according to the E6 development process, which is available in numerous German photo labs. The result of the process is classic color slides.

Some photographers also experimented with cross-processing (C-41) to create unique color effects. The use of this film often resulted in subtle changes in contrast and color nuances.

Cameras and replacement products

The film was suitable for both 35mm and medium format cameras. One film cartridge allowed up to 36 images. The 35mm film was equipped with a DX code that allowed compatible cameras to automatically set the film speed.

There were a variety of camera models from different manufacturers for the 35mm format, including well-known brands such as Leica, Nikon and Olympus. There were also numerous camera models to choose from for the medium format, including well-known manufacturers such as Hasselblad, Minolta and Pentacon, supplemented by models from other brands.

When Konica stopped producing film in the early 2000s, the Chrome Sinbi 200 also disappeared from the market. An alternative for 35mm cameras is the Kodak Ektachrome E100G *. For medium format cameras, a replacement film such as the Fujifilm Velvia 100* could be considered.
