The Iron Bridge 100D is a color negative film available on the market under the Iron Bridge brand. It will be sold online in 2024. Who is behind it cannot be clearly answered.
At its core, however, this film is based on a high-quality product from Kodak, more precisely the Kodak VISION3 50D, which was originally developed specifically for the requirements of cinema film production.
The Kodak VISION3 50D is intended for professional film cameras and is therefore sold by Kodak exclusively in large rolls that are specifically suitable for industrial use. In order to make this material accessible for general use, it is divided into smaller sections.
These are then filled into 35mm cartridges so that photographers can also use the film with common 35mm cameras. This makes it possible to use film material that was developed for professional purposes without having to rely on the expensive and specialized equipment used in film production.
Development of the Iron Bridge 100D
The development of this film differs in one crucial respect from the original Kodak VISION3 50D. The latter requires the special ECN-2 development process, which is less common and is mainly carried out in specialized laboratories that focus on cinema film technology.
The Iron Bridge 100D, on the other hand, has been treated in such a way that it can also be processed using the standardized C-41 development process. This process is offered by most photo labs worldwide and is the most common method for developing color negative films in the field of 35mm photography.
If you can’t find the film, you can also use alternatives. The VISION3 50D is also available from other suppliers. If you want to use a normal color negative film, the Kodak Ektar 100* would be an option.
