The Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Star Wars is a special edition of the Instax Mini 9. It was introduced in 2019 in collaboration with Disney.
Design of the instant camera
The camera is a special edition of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 in Star Wars design. It has a light gray body with blue accents around the lens and shutter button. The Star Wars logos and the droid BB-8 are depicted on the front. On the back you can see a larger picture of R2-D2 and BB-8.
Function of the camera
The Instax Mini 9 is effortless to use: a press of a button next to the lens brings it to life, while a slight push on the lens puts it back to sleep mode. Five different shooting modes (Indoor, Cloudy, Sunny, Very Sunny, Hi-Key) adapt to lighting conditions, with a small LED indicating the recommended mode. The images are particularly soft and bright in Hi-Key mode, which is activated by turning the lens.
The viewfinder only serves as a rough guide as it is not directly connected to the lens. An operating manual is generally unnecessary because handling is intuitive.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 has a built-in flash with a range of up to 2.7 meters, which fires automatically with every shot and cannot be deactivated.
The image section is ideal for portraits and selfies, although there is no zoom. A small mirror next to the lens makes it easier to take self-portraits.
A close-up lens ensures close-ups from a distance of 30 cm to the subject, although the viewfinder can deviate slightly from the actual image section.
A tripod, remote shutter release and self-timer function are not available on the Instax Mini 9.
On the back, a frame counter provides information about the remaining shots. Eyelets on the side allow you to attach a loop or camera strap.
Films for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Star Wars
The Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 uses the Instax Mini format, for which Fujifilm produces the appropriate instant film.
This format is the smallest available and is half the size of the Instax Wide format. The dimensions of a picture are 8.6 x 5.4 cm, with the actual picture being 62 x 46 mm and the rest forming the frame. A debit card serves as a size comparison for an Instax Mini image.
The instant photos are in a cassette that is inserted into the camera. Each cassette allows ten recordings. As soon as the frame counter shows zero, the cassette must be changed. The cost per image is around 70 cents.
Once the image is ejected, development only takes a few minutes. The color films (Instax Mini Film*) produce high-contrast colors, while the white frame can be individually designed with pens and stickers.
The Instax Mini Monochrome* is available for black and white images. The Instax Mini format is particularly suitable for weddings and scrapbooking.
