Agfa CT Precisa 100

The Agfa CT Precisa 100 is a slide film. The E-6 film is one of the successors of the Agfachrome CT100, the first slide film for the E6 process.

In 1998, the CT Precisa 100 was introduced. In 2005, production was discontinued when Agfa went bankrupt.

At the time, Agfa described the Precisa as “precision at its best.” Agfa also claimed the film was “more accurate, more neutral, more differentiated and more stable than other films.”

The 35mm film was manufactured by Agfa in Germany. It could boast a sensitivity of ISO 100. If you needed a little more sensitivity, you could go to the Agfa CT Precisa 200. At the time, the Agfa CT Precisa 100 was aimed primarily at amateurs. Therefore, the reversal film was not available for medium-format or large-format cameras.

In cross processing, the film is distinguished by the fact that it produces very little color shift. It also enhances reds and blues and provided crisp contrasts. These properties made it a popular film with lomographers, who used it to feed their Lomo LC-As.

Normally, however, it is developed, or rather designed to be developed, in E6, the slide film development process. The developed film strips can then either be scanned with a suitable device or cut and placed in slide frames. The finished slide frames can then be projected onto a screen with a slide projector and a slide evening can be held.

Film is no longer produced. The AgfaPhoto CT Precisa 100 is still available, but it has nothing in common with the original except the name. It is a completely different film. The AgfaPhoto film is produced by Fujifilm in Japan.

There is no real alternative for the Agfa CT Precisa 100. A possible replacement might still be the Kodak Elite Chrome 100.
