The Yashica T2 is a 35mm camera. It was built by Kyocera and marketed under the “Yashica” brand, which was purchased by Kyocera Coperation in 1983. Kyocera also offered the Yashica T2 under the Kyocera T name.
The Yashica T2 comes with a Carl Zeiss T* Tessar f2.8 35 mm lens. The fixed focal length is installed and focuses through an autofocus. The closest focusing distance (how close you can get to the lens) is one meter.
The camera automatically sets the exposure, shutter speed and aperture. The exposure meter supports all films with a sensitivity between ISO 50 and ISO 1600, and the film is automatically advanced and rewound.
For low-light shooting, the T2 has a built-in flash. This and the rest of the camera is powered by a 2CR5 6 V battery (eBay / Amazon*). This type of battery can be found very easily online. You can’t use the Yashica without a battery.
The weight of the 35mm camera is 300 grams without the battery. The dimensions are 132 x 73 x 48 mm.
Films for the camera
There are a variety of 35mm films that can be purchased for the camera, including the Kodak Gold 200* and the Ilford Delta 100*, which are usable for 35mm compact cameras from Japan. Other manufacturers such as Foma, Fujifilm Adox and Rollei also offer a wide range of 35mm films suitable for various shooting situations.
It is important that the film has an encoding on the cartridge, otherwise the camera will not be able to set the film speed of the film stock correctly. This can result in underexposed or overexposed photos. Most 35 mm films have such a coding on the cartridge.
Yashica T2D
The Yashica T2D, in addition to the functions of the “normal” T2, also has a so-called data back. This is located on the back of the camera and allows the photographer to expose the shooting date in the photo automatically.
