The Spector Color 400 color negative film is a product that was distributed by the Belgian Spector Photo Group. Nevertheless, the film material in the packaging was manufactured by another company.

The Spector Color 400 is ideal for classic color photography. With a sensitivity of ISO 400, this film is best suited for everyday shots and vacation photos.

Film Processing

Today, when one comes across such a roll of film, it is necessary to develop the film in the C-41 process in order to view the images. The film can be conveniently taken to a photo lab for this purpose. Unlike black-and-white films, the development process for color films is standardized.

In Germany, many large drugstore chains offer services for developing Color 400. After development, you receive the film strips with your own photos.

After that, the finished negatives can be scanned and printed or prints can be made directly. Many professional photo labs offer the possibility of making prints (photo prints) in different sizes during development.

Digitizing negatives

In order to use the images from film strips digitally, they should be digitized with a scanner. There are a variety of devices for converting negatives and other film formats, which differ in functions and prices. After digitization, the photos can be further processed digitally or used in printed form.

Availability and alternatives

The Spector Color 400 was only available in 35mm format and was not available for medium format cameras.

The film cartridge of the 35mm film had a DX code that many cameras could read and automatically set the film speed.

Cameras suitable for 35mm format are offered by manufacturers such as Zenit, Rollei or Porst. However, there are other camera models designed to use 35mm film.

Since color film is no longer manufactured or commercially available, Kodak Ultramax 400* is a suitable alternative for 35mm format. This film provides reliable results and is still available.
