Image aesthetics and technical details

The film is characterized by its fine grain, rich colors and an extended contrast range. The images show strong red tones and rich green tones, although the overall color reproduction can be warmer and sometimes a little redder.

The SantaColor 100 is ideal for a variety of shooting situations and, due to its flexibility, can be exposed from 25 ISO to 800 ISO.

Technically speaking, it is a color negative film suitable for aerial photography with a nominal sensitivity of 100 ISO. The fine grain ensures sharp images, while the wide exposure latitude allows you to push or pull the film. The film is made fresh in the USA and hand-spooled into reused cassettes in Finland.

Processing and compatibility

The SantaColor 100 is compatible with the C41 process and can be processed in minilabs and other industrial development laboratories. Using the RA4 printing process requires an additional color filter that roughly matches the orange base of other color negative films.

Due to the film’s thinner, clearer base, it is recommended to load it indoors and away from direct sunlight to avoid light leaks in the first few images. There may be problems when scanning due to the clearer base, but these can be easily resolved with appropriate adjustments.

Formats

The SantaColor 100 is a film that was specially developed for 35mm cameras. Each film roll holds 36 images in the classic 35mm format of 24 x 36 mm. The film cartridge is equipped with a DX code that allows modern cameras to automatically detect film speed. Well-known manufacturers of 35mm cameras include Kodak, Nikon and Revue.
