The Rollei Retro 80s is a black and white film. The low-sensitivity film is superpanchromatic. It has a special coating to improve the transport properties in the cameras.
The Rollei Retro 80s has optimal flatness and both daylight and tungsten light use is unrestricted.
It has a nominal sensitivity of ISO 80. Rollei advises to expose the film between ISO 32 and ISO 100, depending on your choice you should develop it. The best results are obtained, apart from a profile lab, if you develop it yourself.
Because of the lower blue sensitivity of the emulsion, direct flash shots are less. Blue motifs, such as water, appear black or quite dark due to this property. This can give a certain pizzazz to landscape shots in particular. It has an extended red range up to 750nm and can also be used as IR film with filters.
The Rollei Retro 80s delivers good tonal reproduction and very good maximum blackness. It is based on the “Agfa Aviphot Pan 80” aerial film manufactured by Agfa in Mortsel, Belgium. Because it is cast on a clear base, it scans well and can also be used as slide film.
The Rollei Retro 80S is available as 35mm film (also by the meter) and as medium format film. It was also available as 127 roll film for the corresponding cameras. Because of its low sensitivity, it should be used in a camera with the possibility for exact exposure setting.

Sample photos
All sample photos were taken with the Canonet 28. 35mm film was exposed to ISO 80, and developed in Rodinal (R09 One Shot) for 14 minutes at 20 degrees with a mix ratio of 1+50.
