The Reto Retocolor Glow 400 is a color negative film. It is offered by the supplier Reto Project. It is not known who produced the film.
The Retocolor Glow 400 is a film for color photos. The nominal speed of the film is given as ISO 400. The ISO value is used in a standardized way to describe the sensitivity of the film material to light. A higher sensitivity of the film is achieved by a higher ISO value, which can result in shorter exposure times or a smaller aperture.
The color film is a special film that produces faded and low-contrast colors. It produces a moderate vintage aesthetic with a soft, warm hue that creates a cinematic urban atmosphere.
This film is particularly suited for those looking for a unique aesthetic and who want to make their photography expressive through the use of color and contrast. RETOCOLOR GLOW 400 is ideal for urban and street photography, as its warm tones and vintage look can attractively capture the mood and texture of urban life.
Developing the film
To obtain the final images, the film must be developed in the C-41 process after it has been fully utilized. The C-41 process is a standardized procedure offered by most photo labs and includes a specific protocol for the development process.
With the proper chemistry and supplies, it is also possible to develop film at home. The development process results in film strips that contain the captured images.
Development is usually followed by the creation of prints or digitization. Many labs offer the ability to create prints in various sizes as an additional option. For further digital processing of the photos, the film strips can be digitized with a scanner.
There are a variety of devices that can be used to digitize negatives. These devices vary in their features and quality, and there are options for every budget. The digitized photos can then be digitally processed or shared on social media.
This entire process allows the unique visual effects that film creates to be captured in the final images and these images can be enjoyed in both physical and digital form.
Availability and alternatives
The Retocolor Glow 400 was only available for 35mm cameras. One roll of film holds 27 exposures. The cartridge in which the film is located was marked with a DX code. There are a number of camera manufacturers that produce suitable models for the 35mm format, including Kodak, Minolta and Revue.
Freshly produced material is no longer available from the Reto Retocolor Glow 400. An alternative for 35mm film is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. However, the film is not comparable in terms of image impression.
