The Polaroid Zoecam is an instant camera. The model is based on the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners) in terms of functionality. Of course, the production of the camera was stopped a long time ago.

The camera was sold in the Asian country of Taiwan. The plastic housing is in bright colors. Pink, yellow and a shade of blue were chosen for this. The camera strap is also yellow.

The Polaroid Zoecam is easy to use. Most of the setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. The ease of use allows for a low barrier to entry and thus many options for areas of use. It is a good choice for weddings or at other celebrations. Even on vacation, the camera cuts a very good figure.

The basic exposure settings cannot be changed. The aperture value cannot be adjusted. There is also no adjustment dial for the shutter speed. The lens is fixed and not interchangeable. The model does not have a zoom function. To get razor-sharp images, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 60 cm from the subject when using the close-up lens.

The Polaroid camera has a built-in photo flash. It fires automatically when the picture is taken. This is also necessary, especially when shooting indoors, because the camera requires a lot of light for successful pictures.

Films for the Polaroid Zoecam

Indispensable for taking pictures with the instant camera are the associated instant films. The American company Polaroid, the manufacturer of the camera, has stopped producing films. Since 2010, a new company again provides the appropriate film material.

There are two films to choose from, one color and one black and white. Polaroid Color Film for 600*, the film for color photos with the instant camera. Classic black and white images are possible with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. The popularity of the films is also actuated in different tests.

One box contains a film cassette with eight photos. The fall of light outside the photograph on the unexposed film material should be avoided urgently. For the storage of the unexposed film material, one should look for a cool and dry place.

According to the standard, a picture is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is occupied by the captured image. The remaining area of the picture is white. Also available are editions with multicolored frames.

Batteries

Do you need a specific type of battery for the Polaroid instant camera? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the film cassette. It contains enough power for all unexposed photos in the film cassette. Even when the flash is used. So replacing the film also serves as a change of power source. Additional batteries are not necessary for the camera.

If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Without sufficient power supply, the camera will of course no longer function. In this case, it is sufficient to remove the photo film and replace it with new film material.

Instructions for the Polaroid Zoecam

How to take pictures with the instant camera? A quick guide on how to use the camera.

The first step is to load the instant film. To open the film door, slide the slider on the side of the housing forward. The film cassette is inserted and the flap is closed again. The plastic protective film of the film is automatically ejected.

Now you can take pictures with the camera. Find your desired subject and press the shutter release button on the side. The motor inside the camera transports the image out of the film cassette. As it does so, it passes through two rollers that distribute the chemistry for development over the image. After a short waiting period, the development process is complete. Then you can view the final result.

Alternative Options

If you can’t find the camera, you can resort to alternatives. Two good alternatives would be the Polaroid One600* and Polaroid Spirit 600*. These are models with a comparable feature set. They are also both for the 600 format and require the same films.

If it should be a different film format, there is a larger selection of different instant cameras. Here, for example, there are the Instax Mini 40* and Instax Mini EVO*. The film material can also still be conveniently obtained.
