The Polaroid Sun 630 LMP is an instant camera from Polaroid. The model’s range of functions is identical to that of the Polaroid One Step Flash.

The Polaroid Sun 630 LMP impresses with its user-friendliness. All the setting options that are common with other cameras are not available with this model. Thanks to this low barrier to entry, the camera can be easily operated by anyone and is thus ideally suited for many purposes. For example, it is great for parties and weddings. The camera also cuts a good figure on vacation.

The basic exposure settings cannot be changed. The exposure time cannot be changed. You can’t choose the aperture value yourself either. The lens has a fixed focal length. It is not possible to exchange the lens. The model does not have a zoom function. The minimum focusing distance is 120 cm. This minimum distance must be ensured for the clearest possible pictures.

An integrated flash could not be missing in the camera, of course. When taking pictures, the flash fires automatically. Due to the small aperture, the use of the flash is especially useful indoors.

And what about a self-timer? This function does not exist at all.

Films for the Polaroid Sun 630 LMP

For the camera use, of course, the correct films are needed. The device manufacturer, Polaroid from the USA, has ended the production of instant films. However, there is a new edition under the same name from a new company.

On the Internet you can buy a color film and a black-and-white film. Colorful instant photos are possible with the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Those who prefer monochrome pictures can choose the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. How do the films perform in tests? Both films can convince in many situations.

There are eight photos in one film cassette. Because of the film material’s sensitivity to light, it should not come into contact with it outside the camera. For longer storage, you should find a place that is dry. Also, it should not be stored too warm.

Each of the eight images measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area is filled by the frame. Polaroid also sells editions of the films with colorful frames.

Can you use the Instax films of the Japanese manufacturer. No, the films do not fit the photo camera.

Batteries

What batteries do you need for the Polaroid instant camera? The power supply unit of the camera is a battery in the film cassette. The disposable battery holds the necessary power to supply the camera technology with flash. So changing the film is also changing the power source. Other batteries are not necessary for the camera.

If the camera has been lying for a long time, e.g. in the cellar, the battery in the film cassette may have discharged. Without sufficient power, the camera will then of course no longer work. The solution is simply a film with a new battery. It is not necessary to repair it.

If it should be a different film format, there is a larger selection of different instant cameras. Two non-Polaroid instant cameras are the Instax Mini 90* and LomoInstant Wide*. The films for these models can be conveniently purchased online.
