The Polaroid Spirit Münchener Hypothekenbank is an instant camera. It was shown to the public in the 1980s. The offered range of functions of the camera model can be found in the Polaroid OneStep 600.

The variant is the result of a cooperation between Polaroid and Münchener Hypothekenbank. Münchener Hypothekenbank or MünchenerHyp is a German bank. It was founded in 1896 in Munich as Bayerische Landwirthschaftsbank. The Münchener Hypothekenbank eG logo is on the body of this black instant camera.

The Polaroid Spirit Münchener Hypothekenbank is easy to use. The most common setting options that you are used to from other types of cameras are not found on this model. The ease of use allows it to be brought to bear on numerous occasions. For example, it is a good choice for parties and weddings. The camera is also a great travel companion on vacation.

Changes to the exposure settings are not possible. Aperture and shutter speed, for example, cannot be changed by the user. The lens is fixed and cannot be changed. There is no zoom function. Instead, you simply have to move the camera closer to the object to be photographed. A minimum distance of 120 cm is required for sharp pictures.

The camera comes with a connection option for a flash bar. The search for a tripod thread on the camera remains unsuccessful. A so-called self-timer has not been integrated.

Films for the Polaroid Spirit Münchener Hypothekenbank

Of course, you also need films for the use of the Polaroid camera. The American company Polaroid has abandoned film production for many years. In a factory in the Netherlands, films for the 600 format are produced again since 2010.

There is both a color film and a black and white film available for the camera. The right choice for color photos with the instant camera is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Simple black and white pictures are easily possible with Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. The popularity of the films is also actuated in different tests.

Eight pictures can be taken with the contents of one pack. If the film material comes into contact with a lot of light before the picture is taken, it can become unusable. The unexposed film material should be stored in a cool and dry place.

An image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm in size. The 600 cameras take square images measuring 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area is filled by a white surface. Special edition Polaroid films with colorful frames are also offered.

Caution. Fujifilm instant films are unsuitable for the photo camera.

Batteries

What type of batteries are needed for the Polaroid Spirit Münchener Hypothekenbank? In this type of camera, you can find the battery in the cassette along with the unexposed images. So when you replace the film, you also replace the battery at the same time. There is no need to buy another battery for the camera.

If the camera with film has been stored for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Of course, without enough power, the camera will no longer function. The rescue is to replace the inserted old film with new material with full battery.

Instructions for the Polaroid Spirit Münchener Hypothekenbank

How to take instant pictures with the instant camera? A quick guide on how to use the Polaroid instant camera.

The first step is to load the film. To do this, open the film door by pushing the slider on the side of the housing forward. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The protective film that has protected the film material from light up to now is now automatically removed by the camera technology.

Now you can start taking pictures. By pressing the release button on the side of the housing, the photo is taken. The motor in the camera ejects the image. Now the photo chemistry begins to develop the image. Within a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.

Alternative Options

If you can’t find this model, you can consider other options. A first alternative is the Polaroid OneStep 600, which offers the same feature set and requires the same films.

However, one may want to try something new. Here, for example, there are the LomoInstant Square* and Instax Mini EVO*. You can still buy fresh film stock for these cameras, too.
