The Polaroid Spirit 600CL is a camera from Polaroid. It is an instant camera. The features of the model correspond to the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners).
The Polaroid Spirit 600CL is characterized by its user-friendliness. Most of the setting options common to other types of cameras have been omitted. This allows it to be used by non-technical users and makes it suitable for many occasions. It is an excellent choice for parties and also looks great at weddings. The camera is also a great travel companion on vacation.
Changes to the exposure settings are not possible. The shutter speed and aperture value cannot be freely selected. The lens has a fixed focal length. Changing the lens is not possible. A zoom function, like on current cameras, cannot be found on this model. Instead of using the zoom switch, you have to get closer to the subject to take pictures.
A minimum distance of 60 cm to the subject should be maintained for sharp images. For this, the close-up lens must be pushed in front of the actual lens.
An integrated flash could not be missing in the camera, of course. The flash fires automatically. In low light conditions, the flash is particularly valuable. A popular function, the self-timer, the camera does not have.
Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600CL
Of course, instant film is also needed for the instant camera. Production of the original consumables has since been discontinued. Fresh films have been produced again since 2010 and are now also sold under the old brand name.
There is both a color film and a black and white film for the camera. Color photos are possible with the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. To create black and white images, you can reach for the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. The popularity of the films is also confirmed by different tests.
The content of one box is eight photos. Since the film material is sensitive to light, it should not be exposed to light before the actual exposure. Optimal storage conditions for the unexposed film material can be found in a cool and dry place.
The size of the images, 10.8 x 8.8 cm cm, has not changed with the new manufacturer. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is occupied by the captured image. The rest of the surface of the picture is white. Are white frames too boring? Then you can buy editions with colorful frames.
Not compatible with the Polaroid Spirit 600CL are the instant films from Fujifilm.
Batteries
What batteries do you need for the photo camera? With this type of camera, you can find the power source in the plastic case. The disposable battery holds the necessary power to power the camera technology with flash. So replacing the film also serves as changing the power source. This is the only battery needed for the camera.
If the camera has been lying for a long time, e.g. in the basement, the battery in the film cassette may have discharged. Of course, in the absence of sufficient power supply, the camera will no longer work. In this case, simply remove the photographic film and replace it with new film stock with a fresh battery.
Manual for the Polaroid Spirit 600CL
How to use the instant camera? An introductory guide to how the Polaroid instant camera works.
The first thing to do is to load the film. To do this, slide the slider on the side forward and open the film door. Now the cassette with the film material can be inserted. Afterwards, the flap can be locked again. Automatically the protective cover of the film ejects.
Now you can start taking pictures. On the side of the housing you will find the shutter release button. Immediately after the picture is taken, it is ejected. It passes through two metal rollers that distribute the developing chemicals evenly over the image. Within a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.
Alternative Options
If you can’t find a camera, you can turn to alternatives. The first option here is the Polaroid One Step (rounded corners). It offers the same features and needs the same films.
But maybe you want to try something new. Outside of the Polaroid world, you can find the Instax Mini 11* and Instax Mini 40*. Suitable film material is also still being produced for both cameras.
