The Polaroid Spirit 600 SlimFast is an instant camera from Polaroid. Its range of functions is identical to the Polaroid One Step Flash.

The edition is dedicated to the SlimFast company. The design of the camera is in the color scheme of red, white and black. Next to the flash you can find the logo “Ultra SlimFast”. Above the film edition is the saying “Lose Weight, Stay Slim & Feel Great!”. SlimFast has been offering diet products since 1977. These include shakes, snacks and bars.

The Polaroid Spirit 600 SlimFast stands out for its user-friendly features. If you’re used to a lot of settings on your camera, you won’t find them on this model. Due to the ease of use, there is a low entry threshold and thus versatile uses. It is suitable for parties, for example, and also cuts a good figure at weddings. Changes to the exposure settings are not possible. The shutter speed cannot be changed. The aperture value can also not be selected. It is not possible to change the lens. It has a fixed focal length. The model does not have a zoom function. To zoom in, you have to get closer to the subject. Very important for the photo camera are the correct photo films. The production of the original consumable material has ended in the meantime. A company from the Netherlands is again producing suitable films for the 600 format.

There is both a color film and a black and white film for the camera. One option for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Black and white images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. In tests, both can often do well and get a high rating score.

In one box you can find eight photos. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. The ideal storage conditions are found in a clean and dark place.

Following the standard, one image measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The actual image is square and 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled by a white area. But there are also Polaroid films with colorful frames.

Do the Instax films fit the instant camera? No, the Fujifilm films are not compatible.

Batteries

Do I need batteries for the Polaroid Spirit 600 SlimFast? The camera’s power supply unit is a battery inside the film cassette. It provides the camera with enough power to take pictures. So replacing the film also serves as a change of power source. It is the only power source the camera needs.

The film cassette including the battery should not be disposed of in the household trash. It is best to take the plastic cassette or just the battery to a responsible local drop-off location.

First of all, you need to load the film. To do this, slide the slider forward on the side to open the film door. Then the film cassette is inserted. The flap can then be closed again. Now the camera ejects the protective cover of the film.

The camera is now ready for taking pictures. To capture the desired subject in the photo, the release button on the side of the housing must be pressed. The camera transports the image from the film cassette and the development of the image begins. Within a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.
