The Polaroid Spirit 600 NHK is an instant camera. The range of functions offered by the model coincides with the Polaroid One Step Flash. This edition was developed for NHK. NHK, or Japan Broadcasting Corporation, is the public broadcaster of Japan.

The Polaroid Spirit 600 NHK is characterized by its uncomplicated handling. Most of the setting options common to other types of cameras have been omitted. The uncomplicated handling allows for a low entry threshold and thus many possible areas of use. It is particularly well suited for parties and also cuts a fine figure at weddings. However, it is also a lot of fun on vacation.

The basic photo settings cannot be changed. For example, the aperture and shutter speed cannot be changed by the user. The lens has a fixed focal length. It is not possible to exchange the optics. The model does not have a zoom function. A minimum distance of 120 cm to the subject should be maintained for sharp pictures.

The instant camera is provided with a built-in flash. The flash is fired automatically. A literal bright spot is the flash when shooting under suboptimal lighting conditions.

Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 NHK

Indispensable for taking photos with the instant camera are the appropriate instant films. The original camera manufacturer no longer produces film material. Fresh films are now being sold again under the old brand name.

Material is available for color photos and monochrome images. The name of the color film is Polaroid Color Film for 600*. If you prefer black and white images, it is recommended to choose Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. They enjoy great popularity among a wide range of photographers.

The material of one pack is enough for eight pictures. The film material is light sensitive and therefore should not come into contact with light before exposure. Optimal storage conditions for unexposed film material are found in a cool and dry place.

An instant film has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is reserved for the actual image. The remaining area of the Polaroid picture is filled by a white area. For those who find white frames too boring, there are editions with colorful frames.

Can you use the Japanese manufacturer’s Instax films. No, the films do not fit the Polaroid Spirit 600 NHK.

Batteries

What type of battery is needed for the Polaroid instant camera? For this type of camera, the battery is located inside the film cassette. The disposable battery supplies power to the camera with flash. So replacing the film also serves as replacing the power source. Another battery is not needed for the camera.

Once the film is at its end, care should be taken to simply throw the film cassette with the battery into the household trash. The battery should be recycled properly.

Polaroid Spirit 600 NHK User’s Guide

How to take pictures with the instant camera? A small instruction manual on how to use the Polaroid camera.

First of all, you need to load the film. To do this, slide the slider on the side forward so that the film door opens. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The protective film that previously protected the film material from light is now automatically removed by the camera technology.

The camera is now ready to take the desired picture. The subject to be photographed is captured on the instant image by pressing the shutter release button. A first impression is obtained through the viewfinder on the back. The development of the image begins after the motor has transported the image out. After a few minutes, the development is complete and you can view the image.

Alternatives

If one cannot locate the camera, one can opt for alternatives. One option that would come to mind would be the Polaroid One Step Flash. It offers the same features and needs the same films.

One may also want cameras from other manufacturers as an alternative. You could go for the LomoInstant Wide* and LomoInstant*. Suitable film material is also still being produced for both cameras.
