The Polaroid Spirit 600 Guest Quarters is a camera from Polaroid. It is an instant camera. The range of functions of the model corresponds to the Polaroid One Step Flash. Today, this camera is no longer manufactured.

The color design of this model is black and dark blue. Next to the flash is the imprint “Guest Quarters Suite Hotels”. A similar imprint can be found in white letters above the film output.

The Polaroid Spirit 600 Guest Quarters is very user-friendly. The usual setting options found on other cameras are not available for this model. Thanks to its ease of use, it can be used for many different occasions. For example, it is a good choice for parties and weddings. Of course, taking pictures with the camera is especially fun on vacation.

The exposure settings cannot be changed. The free determination of aperture and exposure time by the photographer is not provided for. Changing the lens is impossible. It is a fixed focal length. There is no zoom function on this model. Therefore, for close-ups, you have to take a few steps closer to the subject. To get sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 120 cm from the subject should be maintained.

The photo camera has a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. This is also necessary, especially when shooting indoors, because the camera requires a lot of light for successful pictures.

Films for the Polaroid Spirit 600 Guest Quarters

Of course, films are also needed for the Polaroid instant camera. The manufacturer of the camera, the American company Polaroid, has ceased production. A successor for the old instant films has been offered by a company from the Netherlands since 2010.

Black-and-white and color films for the 600 format are available. For color photos, you have to buy the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. The Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is the right choice if you want monochrome images. In tests, both can often do well and get a high rating score.

One box contains a film cassette with eight photos. The film stock is very sensitive to light, so it should not come in contact with light before the actual exposure. For storage of the unused material, one should find a place with cool and dark characteristics.

According to the standard, a picture measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled by a white area. Are white frames too boring? Then there are also editions with colorful frames.

Batteries

What kind of batteries do you need for the Polaroid camera? In this type of camera, you can find the battery in the plastic case. The disposable battery contains the necessary energy for the camera technology with flash. So with every film change, the battery is also changed. An additional battery is not necessary.

If the camera with film has been stored for a longer period of time, the battery may have discharged. As a result, in many cases the camera no longer works. In this case, simply remove the photo film and replace it with new film stock with a fresh battery.

How are pictures taken with the instant camera? A brief guide on how the instant camera works.

The first step is to load the film. To do this, slide the slider forward on the side to open the film door. The film cassette is inserted and the flap is closed again. The protective cover of the film ejects automatically.

Now you can start taking pictures. Find your desired subject and press the shutter release button on the side. The electric motor inside the camera transports the exposed image from the film cassette through two rollers. This distributes the developing chemicals over the image. Within minutes, the development process is complete and you can view the final result.

Alternative Options

If you can’t find this model, you should turn to other options. Here, for example, are the Polaroid OneStep Flash* and Polaroid Sun 660*. These models come with comparable functional features. They are also designed for the 600 instant film format.

If it should be a different film format, there is a larger selection of different instant cameras. Two instant cameras that are not from Polaroid are the Instax Mini 90* and Instax Wide 300*. Matching film stock is also still being produced for both cameras.
