The Polaroid ProCam is an instant camera for the Image/Spectra format. It was introduced in the 90s.
The ProCam is very different from the other Spectra cameras. For instance, it comes with a 90mm lens and is not folded at the front, but at the side.
The Polaroid ProCam is a compact instant camera with a fixed focal length lens of 90 mm. The lens has a maximum aperture of f/10 and a closest focusing distance of 46 cm. For even closer shots, an additional close-up lens can be attached to the camera, allowing a minimum focusing distance of 30 cm.
The camera’s exposure settings are fully automatic, with the camera itself determining the optimal exposure based on the available light. This feature makes the camera easy to use and accessible to photographers of all experience levels. Focus is also automatically adjusted by the camera, making it easy for the user to aim and shoot.
In low-light conditions, the built-in flash provides enough light to take well-exposed photos. The flash has a range of 5.5 meters, which is suitable for most indoor and outdoor shooting. The flash can also be turned off manually if desired, allowing more creative control over the final image.
On the back of the Polaroid ProCam there are a few setting options. There is a light/dark control and the possibility to turn off the flash and the autofocus. If the autofocus is turned off, the camera sets the distance to 4.6 meters to infinity. Furthermore, there is the possibility to insert the current date into the picture.
The ProCam has a tripod thread and a hand strap on the side of the camera.
Films and batteries for the Polaroid ProCam
Meanwhile, there are films for the Polaroid ProCam again. The company “Impossible” produces instant films for the old cameras. Currently they are the Polaroid Originals Color Film for Image & Spectra* for color images and the Polaroid Originals B&W Film for Image & Spectra* for black and white images. One pack contains eight shots and the batteries for the camera and flash.
