The Polaroid One Step Talkingcam QPS is a photo camera. It belongs to the group of instant cameras. The offered range of functions of the camera model can be found in the Polaroid 636 Talking Camera.

The special function of this model is playing sound effects. For example, a preset effect can be played when the shutter is released. But there is also the option to record your own sounds or voice.

A plus point of the Polaroid One Step Talkingcam QPS is its ease of use. Most of the setting options found on other types of cameras have been omitted. The ease of use allows it to be brought to bear on numerous occasions. If you are hosting a wedding or a lavish party, the camera is an excellent choice for taking photos. It is also a faithful partner on vacation.

The basic photo settings cannot be changed. Aperture and shutter speed, for example, cannot be changed by the user. The lens has a fixed focal length. It is not possible to change the lens. There is no zoom function, as with a digital camera.

Instead of pressing the zoom button, you have to get closer to the subject for close-ups. You should not get closer than 60 cm to your subject when using the close-up lens. Otherwise, you won’t recognize much in the pictures in the end.

The camera has a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. Especially when shooting indoors, this is also important, because the camera needs a lot of light for optimal photos.

Films for the Polaroid One Step Talkingcam QPS

You also need films for using the instant camera, of course. The original film material of the American photo pioneers Polaroid can no longer be found in stores. However, films are being produced again under the same brand name.

For the camera, there is both a color film and a black and white film. For color photos, you have to buy the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. For classic black and white images, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is suitable. Both films can deliver good results in tests.

One pack is enough for eight pictures. The film material is light-sensitive and should therefore never come into contact with light before taking the picture. The ideal circumstances for storage are in a cool and dark place.

According to the specification of the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The captured image occupies an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The remaining area of the image is white. Also available are editions with multicolored frames.

Batteries

What kind of batteries do you need for the Polaroid camera? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the plastic case. It provides the camera with enough power to take photos. So replacing the film also provides a fresh power source. Another battery is not required for the instant camera.

If the camera with film inside has not been used for a long time, the battery may have discharged. It follows that the camera will no longer work. In this case, simply remove the photo film and replace it with new film material with a fresh battery.

How to use the instant camera? An introductory guide to taking photos with the instant camera.

The first step is to insert the film. The film door opens by pressing the slider on the side of the housing. Then the film cassette is inserted. The flap can then be closed again. The protective film is now automatically removed from the camera.

Now it is time to take the picture. To do this, aim the camera at the subject and press the shutter release button. The camera’s motor ejects the image. Now the photochemistry starts developing the image. After a few minutes, you have the finished image in your hand.

Alternatives

If you can’t find a camera, you can resort to alternatives. Here, for example, the Polaroid Sun 660* and Polaroid 600 Business Edition* come to mind. These models come with comparable functional features. They use the same films as the Polaroid One Step Talkingcam QPS.

A new angle is brought by other camera manufacturers. Outside of the Polaroid world, you can find the Diana Instant Square* and LomoInstant*, for example. Suitable film material is also still produced for both cameras.
