The Polaroid Mondadori is an instant camera. It was first presented to the public in the 1980s. The range of functions offered by the model is congruent with the Polaroid OneStep 600.
The partner for this model was Mondadori. Mondadori is an Italian publishing group. It was founded in 1907 and is based in Milan. It publishes books, magazines, comics and more.
The body of the instant camera is black. The logo of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore S.p.A. can be found above the film edition.
The Polaroid Mondadori stands out for its user-friendly features. If you are used to many settings on your camera, you won’t find them on this model. Due to the ease of use, there is a low barrier to entry and thus versatile possibilities for the field of application. It is suitable for parties, for example, and also cuts a good figure at weddings. However, it is also a lot of fun on vacation.
The basic exposure settings cannot be changed. Aperture and shutter speed, for example, cannot be changed by the user. The Polaroid instant camera comes with a fixed lens. There is no zoom function on this model. Here, you have no choice but to zoom with your feet and get closer to the subject. To get sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 120 cm from the subject should be maintained.
There is a connection for a flash bar on the camera. A connection for a tripod is missing on the camera. A popular function, the self-timer, the instant camera does not have.
Films for the Polaroid Mondadori
Of course, instant film is also needed for the Polaroid Mondadori. The original film material of the American photo pioneer Polaroid can no longer be found in stores. Since 2010, however, a company is again producing suitable film material. The film material of the Fujifilm company, on the other hand, cannot be used.
You can buy a color film and a black-and-white film online. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the instant film for color photos. For classic black-and-white pictures, the Polaroid B&W Film for 600* is suitable. Both films cut a fine figure in use.
One box is enough for eight photos. The film material can become unusable if it comes into contact with a lot of light before shooting. Ideal storage conditions are found in a clean and dark place.
As specified in the standard, an image is 10.8 x 8.8 cm. All 600 cameras take square photos measuring 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled by a white area. Editions with multicolored frames are also available.
Batteries
Are certain batteries required for the Polaroid camera? The power source of the camera is a battery in the film cassette. So changing the film is also changing the battery. The instant camera itself does not require another battery.
The film cassette, because of the battery, should not go into the household trash under any circumstances. It is best to take the plastic cassette or battery to a suitable local drop-off location.
Tutorial for the Polaroid Mondadori
How to take pictures with the instant camera? A short tutorial on how to use the Polaroid Mondadori.
The first step is to load the film. To open the camera, slide the slider on the side of the camera body. Then the film cassette is inserted. Then the flap can be closed again. The camera now ejects the plastic protective film of the film.
Now you can take pictures with the camera. View the subject through the viewfinder and press the shutter button. The motor in the camera now ejects the image and development begins. After completion of the development process of the instant photo after a few minutes, the photo can be closely examined.
Alternatives
If you can’t find the camera, you can move on to other options. A first alternative is the Polaroid OneStep 600, which offers the same features and needs the same films.
One may also want to reach for other instant cameras as an alternative. Two non-Polaroid instant cameras are the LomoInstant Wide* and Instax Mini 40*. The films for these models can be conveniently purchased online.
