The Polaroid Lucky Strike is an instant camera. Its range of functions is identical to that of the Polaroid 600 (round above). It was developed in cooperation with Lucky Strike.
The design of the camera is silver and black. Next to the flash is the logo of the cigarette brand Lucky Strike. Next to it is the lettering “L.S./M.F.T”. This abbreviation stands for Lucky Strikes / Means Fine Tobacco. It is not the first Polaroid camera for a cigarette brand, there was already an edition for the Camel brand.
The Polaroid Lucky Strike is characterized by its uncomplicated handling. Many setting options that are common with other camera types have been eliminated. Its simplicity allows it to be used for many different occasions. For example, it is an excellent option for parties and weddings. Even on vacation, the camera cuts a fine figure.
The basic exposure settings cannot be changed. Arbitrary selection or free choice of shutter speed and aperture is not possible. The camera comes with a fixed lens. There is no zoom function. For razor-sharp pictures, a minimum distance of 60 cm has to be observed when using the close-up lens.
Of course, the camera cannot do without a built-in flash. It turns on automatically during shooting. Especially in low light conditions, one is often grateful for the flash.
Films for the Polaroid Lucky Strike
Prerequisite for photographing with the instant camera are the appropriate instant films. The manufacturer of the camera, Polaroid, has ceased production. However, films are being produced again under the same brand name.
For 600 format cameras, there is a color and black and white film. The suitable color film is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Black and white images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. This is also confirmed in various test reports.
One box contains a film cassette with eight photos. Under no circumstances should the light-sensitive material come into contact with light. For the storage of the unexposed film material, one should look for a cool and dry place.
Each of the eight images measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area is filled by a white area. To can also be found editions of Polaroid films with colored frames.
Batteries
What type of batteries are needed for the instant camera? In this type of camera, the battery is found in the cartridge with the unexposed pictures. The disposable battery is sufficient for all unexposed images in the cassette. Even when using the flash for each exposure. So changing the film also replaces the battery at the same time. There is no need to buy an additional battery for the camera.
If the camera has been stored for a long time, for example in the basement, the battery in the film cassette may have discharged itself. This means that the camera may stop working. The solution to the problem is to replace the old film with new film stock with a new battery.
