The Pentor Automatic 35-600 represents a viewfinder camera for 35mm film. It was sold under the Pentor label and was manufactured by Haking in Hong Kong. Going by the name of Halina, she is known as “Halina 35-600“.

Its fixed lens offers a focal length of 40mm with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. Focusing is manual, with a minimum focus distance of 80 cm.

The camera is equipped with an exposure meter for 35mm film, suitable for films from ISO 25 to ISO 400. The aperture is set directly on the lens. A flash can also be used with the PC flash connector and hot shoe. A cable release can be connected and the camera can be screwed onto a tripod.

It draws its energy from a 1.35v PX625 mercury cell. These batteries are no longer commercially available in the EU, but the V625U cell (eBay / Amazon*) can serve as a replacement. Another option would be the WeinCell replacement battery for PX625 (eBay / Amazon*), but its lifespan is limited.

Film selection for the Pentor Automatic 35-600

As a film camera, the Pentor Automatic 35-600 uses 35mm film, which is still readily available and developable today. The Agfaphoto Vista 200* serves as a suitable color film, while the AgfaPhoto APX 400* enables black and white photography.

The color film is developed via the C-41 process which most photo labs offer. The black and white film requires special developer chemicals, but these are easily accessible. Alternatively, a professional laboratory can also be used for the development.

The exposure format of the Pentor Automatic 35-600 is 24mm x 36mm. The film has to be rewound manually inside the camera. There is a thumbwheel on the back. The number of photos taken is displayed on the top.
