The Nikon L35AF2 is a snapshot camera. It was introduced in 1985 and is the successor of the Nikon L35AF. The camera is part of the L-series.
The 35mm photo camera comes with a fixed lens. 35 mm is the focal length of the lens. The largest aperture of the camera is f/2.8. The photo camera is equipped with an autofocus. The closest focusing distance of the lens is 70 cm. Filters can no longer be used, but there is a built-in lens cover.
The Nikon L35AF2 has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 50 to ISO 1000. The film speed is determined by the DX code. If the film is not DX-coded, the light meter is set to ISO 100.
A built-in flash is available for low-light shooting. According to the instructions, the power of the flash is up to 10 meters. The charging time of the flash is indicated as six seconds.
The 35mm camera has a self-timer. The lead time of the self-timer is 10 seconds. There is also a thread for a tripod.
With a size of 12.5 x 7.3 x 4.8 cm, the Nikon L35AF2 weighs 320 grams according to the operating instructions. The camera’s power source are two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). One charge is enough for about 100 rolls of film with 24 frames if you do without a flash.
Films for the Nikon L35AF2
The Nikon L35AF2 needs photo film, more precisely 35mm film. The exposure area of the Nikon L35AF2 has a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is transported automatically.
35mm films are still produced today. They can be developed in most photo laboratories. A possible film for color photography is the Kodak Portra 400*. One option for b/w images is the AgfaPhoto APX 400*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. C-41 films are developed by almost all photo laboratories.
The Nikon L35AF2 is no longer in production. The price for a used copy depends on the condition.
Nikon L35AD2
The Nikon L35AD2 is a variant of the 35mm camera. The model is identical in the range of functions, but offers the possibility of exposing the date of recording. The “AD” in the model name stands for Auto Date.
