Experimental Shots with a Set of Lenses for Micro-Four-Thirds Cameras: The Lomography Experimental Lens Kit

Lomography Experimental Lens Kit Micro Four Thirds

The set presented today by Lomography consists of three different lenses: a 12mm wide-angle lens, a 24mm lens, and a fisheye lens. The fisheye naturally captures a typical circular fisheye image on the sensor. With the 12mm, you can take wide-angle shots, and the 24mm corresponds to a 48mm on a 35mm camera (MFT = crop factor 2.0).

The lenses of the Experimental Lens Kit have even more to offer. In a slot between the lens and the camera, you can insert color filters that bathe the image in the corresponding color.

A very popular technique, not only among Lomographers, is multiple exposure. This can be done with all three lenses. For this purpose, a shutter independent of the camera is built into the lenses. If you want to make a multiple or double exposure, you trigger the camera (bulb mode) and press the shutter on the lens as desired. You can choose between two shutter speeds: 1/100 s (N) and bulb (B). How exactly this works in detail is explained again in this guide.

The lenses can be used on all MFT cameras, such as the Olympus Pen (Amazon) and Olympus OM-D series (Amazon), as well as Panasonic Lumix G cameras (Amazon).

You must focus the lenses manually using the screen or an electronic viewfinder. The lenses of the Lomography Experimental Lens Kit are, of course, made of plastic. The package includes the three lenses and a selection of color filters.

The Lomography Experimental Lens Kit is available from today in the Lomography online shop and can be purchased for a price of €89.

How good and successful the lenses will be remains to be seen. In any case, the competition in this segment, toy lenses, is not exactly small; for example, there is the Holga lens for digital cameras and the lenses from Lensbaby (Amazon) and Slr Magic (Amazon) also go in that direction.
