The LC-A+ White Special Edition/White Japan Edition is a variant of the Lomo LC-A+. It was introduced by Lomography in November 2010. The edition was limited to 1000 pieces worldwide.
As you can guess, the design of the 35mm camera is white. The camera was designed by the Japanese team of Lomography. It is therefore wrapped in leather with a wave-like embossing. This is meant to be reminiscent of the patterns in fine gravel in a Japanese rock garden. On the back, a “25” can be seen. This number is a tribute to the 25th anniversary of the 35mm camera.
Besides the normal scope of delivery, this LC-A+ edition comes with a certificate and a white bag for the camera (Lomo L-Case). The white case is made of naturally tanned leather especially for the edition. The whole thing is in a matching wooden box.
Of course this edition comes with the same features as the normal LC-A+. Multiple exposures can be made easily, a light meter is built in and a flash can be connected via hot shoe. Three LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*) are required.
Film selection for the Lomo LC-A+ White Special Edition
The Lomo LC-A+ is a camera specially designed for the use of 35mm film. Even today, 35mm films are produced and developed by most external photo laboratories without any problems.
When using this camera, Fujifilm Superia 400* is recommended for color images, while Ilford Delta 400* is recommended for black and white images. However, it is also possible to use films from other manufacturers with this camera.
Color film is developed using the C-41 process, which almost all photo labs can do. The B/W film can be developed in a photo lab or at home. Development guides are available on online platforms. In general, developing at home is often cheaper in the long run than going to a professional photo lab.
