The Kodak Ektachrome E100G is a professional slide film known for its fine grain and excellent color reproduction. Originally developed for professional photographers, this ISO 100 film has gained a reputation over the years for its high quality and reliability. The E100G was developed because of its T-GRAIN emulsion technology, which provides extremely fine grain and sharpness. This allows for large format enlargements without losing detail.
Development of slide film
The Kodak Ektachrome E100G is developed using the E6 process, a special process used for color slides. This type of development is still offered by many photo labs today. According to Kodak, this process ensures medium color saturation with a neutral color balance.
Colors are vivid but not overdone, allowing photographers to produce realistic images with good color depth and contrast. T-GRAIN emulsion technology further helps improve color reproduction and sharpness.
Formats
The Ektachrome E100G was available in a variety of formats to meet different needs and applications. It was available as medium format film (typically 120 film), 35mm film, and sheet film (in various sizes, such as 4×5 inches or 8×10 inches). Each format offered its own advantages, such as higher resolution or the ability to use more compact cameras.
Availability and discontinuation of production
Unfortunately, the Kodak Ektachrome E100G is no longer in production. Kodak has discontinued production of the E100G, along with many other analog films, due to declining demand and the rise of digital photography.
