The Hanimex Pix is a camera model from the Hanimex brand. This camera device in 35mm format has its origins in the Asian company Haking. It was produced in Hong Kong. This model was also sold under different names. More information can be found through this link.

It has a non-interchangeable standard lens with a focal length of 33 mm. It is not intended to change the focus. The lens is protected from potential damage by a sliding door.

The camera lacks an integrated exposure meter. However, there is a dial on the front that can be used to set the film sensitivity. These include ISO 100/200, ISO 400 and ISO 1000. Depending on the selected value, the aperture changes, with the shutter speed always remaining at around 1/125 seconds.

Thanks to a built-in flash, sharp shots are possible even in unfavorable light. It is operated via a switch directly below.

Power is based on two AAA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). These batteries are mainly required for the flash function. Without the use of the flash they are not absolutely necessary.

There is no tripod mount on this device. A self-timer and a date stamp function are also missing.

Film selection for the Hanimex Pix

The Hanimex Pix uses 35mm film. These films are still widely available and can be processed in most photo labs. A suitable color film is the Kodak Gold 200*, while the Ilford Delta 400* is preferred for black and white images. Other manufacturers of 35mm films are Foma, Adox and Rollei.

The color film is processed using the C-41 process, which is available from most vendors. Black and white films can be processed in labs or at home with the right equipment. Instructions on how to do this are available online.

The picture format is 24mm x 36mm. A typical roll of film can hold approximately 36 frames. The photographer must manually advance the film. Turning back is also done manually using a button below and a crank on top of the camera housing.
