The Hanimex Praktica Super TL is a SLR camera. It was produced from 1968 to 1976 by Pentacon in the GDR. The 35mm camera was sold in the east under the name “Praktica Super TL“. The Hanimex was intended for the American market.
The Hanimex Praktica Super TL offers the possibility of interchangeable lenses. This is possible trough the M42-Gewinde.
The M42 thread is standardized and manufacturer-independent lens mount, so a large number of lenses have been produced. The first M42 lens was invented by Zeiss. Amongst others, M42 lens manufactures are Pentax, Pentacon, Meyer-Optik, Zeiss and KMZ (Zenit). The Hanimex Praktica Super TL has no autofocus. It is manually focused.
The Hanimex Praktica Super TL has a built-in light meter. The exposure meter is designed to measure exposure through the lens of the camera. The aperture and shutter speed can be freely selected. Bulb mode is available for long exposures. The shutter is open for a variable time. The use of an external flash unit is possible via the PC flash socket.
Films for the Hanimex Praktica Super TL
The Hanimex Praktica Super TL is designed for the 35mm format. These films are still being produced and the development is offered by most photo labs. For black-and-white 35mm shots, the Ilford FP4 Plus* a good choice. For color images you can use the Kodak Ultramax 400*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is offered by most laboratories.
The Hanimex Praktica Super TL offers the possibility to connect a cable release and has a thread for a tripod. The 35mm camera needs one Varta V 625 (eBay / Amazon*).
Nowadays you can buy the SLR camera only in used condition. The price you pay for a used copy of the Hanimex Praktica Super TL depends on the condition and functionality.
