The Halina MW 35AF presents itself as a compact model from Haking. With its origins in Hong Kong, it also found its way to customers under the names Haking MW 35AF and Edixa 135 AF Motor.

It has a permanently installed “Halinar Lens” that offers a focal length of 38 mm and a maximum aperture of f/3.8. Focusing is done by a sensor in combination with the camera’s technology, whereby the subject should be at least 100 cm away. The manual adjustment of the focus is left out.

A component of the Halina MW 35AF, the exposure meter, takes care of the light measurements. It can recognize ISO values between 64 and 400. The automatic control is in control of the exposure, with only the aperture opening being adjusted.

A built-in flash is used for shots in less bright environments, which is operated using a switch on the front.

Other features of the Halina MW 35AF include a connection option for a cable release and a tripod thread. Attaching a carrying strap is also not a problem.

Its function is based on two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). These are widely available, with rechargeable models also working. Its runtime with one set of batteries is impressive.

Films for the Halina MW 35AF

Without 35mm film, the Halina MW 35AF is a stylish but useless accessory. Manufacturers prescribe 35mm films, which can still be developed in most laboratories today and are also easily available online.

The Kodak Ultramax 400* and the Ilford Delta 400* deserve special mention, as they reliably deliver brilliant results. Brands such as Lomography, Rollei, Fujifilm and Adox are in no way inferior to this quality.

The format of the exposure is 24 mm x 36 mm. A standard film (135-36) typically takes 36 exposures. Thanks to its motor, the camera transports the film after each shot and also when rewinding.

Gauges on the top of the camera body tell you whether the film is working properly and how many shots have already been taken.

FAQ about the Halina MW 35AF

What kind of film does the Halina MW 35AF use?

The Halina MW 35AF uses 35mm film, which is still widely available and can be developed in most photo labs. Standard 35mm film rolls typically allow for around 36 exposures. The camera automatically advances the film after each shot and also rewinds it when the roll is finished.

Does this camera focus automatically or do I have to do it myself?

This camera features automatic focusing, so you don't have to worry about manually adjusting the focus. The camera uses a sensor to determine the focus, and the subject should be at least 100 cm away for it to work properly. You just point and shoot!

Can I use a tripod with the Halina MW 35AF?

Yes, the Halina MW 35AF has a tripod socket, which means you can easily attach it to a tripod. This is useful for taking steady shots, especially in low-light conditions where you might need a longer exposure time. It also allows you to use a cable release to avoid camera shake.

How do I power the camera? Does it need special batteries?

The device is powered by two standard AA batteries. These batteries are very common and easy to find in most stores. You can also use rechargeable AA batteries to save money and reduce waste.

Does the camera have a flash for taking pictures indoors?

Yes, this device has a built-in flash that you can use for indoor or low-light photography. The flash can be activated with a switch on the front of the camera. This is a great feature for capturing moments in darker environments.
