The Diana Mini is a 35mm camera from Lomography. It is the little sister of the Diana F+.
Not only does it resemble the medium format camera in design, but some of its features are inspired by its big sister. Since it uses the 35mm film format (eBay / Amazon*) and this is smaller in size, the camera is also smaller. The Diana Mini is made of lightweight plastic.
Like the Diana F+, it takes square pictures, for example. One feature it has over its big sister is the half-frame mode. In this mode, the image is slightly smaller, but 72 shots (for a 36-frame film) will fit on the film. You can switch between the two modes at any time in the film. In square format, the images are 24×24 mm and 36 images fit on a 36 frame film. In half format, the size is reduced to 24×17 mm.
The Diana Mini has a 24 mm lens made of plastic. However, since its shooting format is slightly smaller, the crop changes somewhat. Thus, the focal length is equivalent to 30 mm in the square format and 35 mm in the half-frame.
The Diana Mini (eBay / Amazon*) has two apertures (f/8, f/11) and two exposure times, N (1/60 s) for daylight and B (Bulb) for long exposures, night shots and the like. Focusing is done by turning the front of the lens. There are 4 options to choose from. The three distances that are also known from the Diana F+ and one for close-ups. This makes sharp shots up to 0.6 meters possible.
Multiple and double exposures are of course also possible by simply pressing the shutter button several times. The plastic camera does not need batteries.
Most of the accessories of the Diana F+, e.g. the lens and the backs, cannot be used on the Diana Mini. The small camera also lacks the pinhole aperture.
Depending on the edition, the Diana Mini comes with or without a flash. In any case, the scope of delivery includes a lens cap, strap for the camera, a manual and a book with photos.
Only the Diana F+ Flash can be used as a flash without an adapter. However, with an adapter, flashes with a hot shoe can also be used on the camera. The Diana F+ Flash is powered by an AA battery (eBay / Amazon*). A connection for a tripod is also available.
