The Yashica T3D is a compact camera for 35mm film. It was manufactured by Kyocera, who owned Yashica at the time, in collaboration with German lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss AG. It is part of the T* series, all of which featured a Carl Zeiss Tessar with excellent imaging bars in a compact size.

The Yashica T3D differs from the Yashica T3 by the data back. This allows the photographer to imprint the date and time directly into the image when shooting. The year goes up to the year 2019.

However, in addition to the normal battery, a CR2025 3V cell (eBay / Amazon*) is required for operation.

Films for the Yashica T3D

According to the instructions, the Yashica T3D exposes 35mm film. 35mm films are still manufactured today. They can be developed in most laboratories. A recommendation for shooting with this camera is Kodak Portra 400* for color images and AgfaPhoto APX 400* for B&W images.

Developing photographic film is generally not a big problem. Especially 35mm films are still offered by many photo labs. The prices for this service can vary greatly depending on the scope and type of service. The recommended colour film is usually developed in the C-41 process, which is offered by most photo labs and follows a strict standard.

Black and white film, on the other hand, requires the use of a special developer, the choice of which can affect the result. Professional photo labs also offer black and white development. However, the best results are achieved by developing the film yourself, as you have full control.

The necessary accessories and the appropriate developing chemistry for the home lab can be found online. Popular developers include Rodinal, XTOL, ID-11 and D-76, while smaller suppliers such as Adox, Rollei and Foma also offer suitable chemicals.

The Yashica T3D exposes an area of 24 mm x 36 mm. This means that at least 36 images fit on a normal roll of film. Film transport is fully automatic.
