The Samsung Kenox FX-4, also known as ECX 1, is a camera for everyday use. This 35mm model was created in collaboration with the design studio F.A. Porsche designed and manufactured by Samsung.

This compact camera is equipped with a fixed zoom lens. The lens, called the "Samsung Zoom Lens 38-140mm Auto Macro", consists of eleven lens elements arranged in nine groups. The zoom range varies between 38mm and 140mm. Focusing is made easier by an integrated infrared autofocus, which enables a minimum focusing distance of 60 cm in 38 mm macro mode.

The compact camera also has an integrated exposure meter that can control exposure for films with ISO values from 50 to 3200. The film speed is recognized by the DX code on the film cassette. Although the Samsung Kenox FX-4 has a program automatic, it does not allow manual adjustment of aperture and exposure time. However, exposure can be adjusted in 0.5EV (±3EV) increments.

With a leaf shutter that supports exposure times from 1/400 s to 1/3 s and a bulb mode for long exposures between 1 and 60 seconds, the camera offers flexibility in exposure selection.

Another highlight is the panorama mode, in which the image ratio is changed to 13 x 36 mm, which creates a panoramic effect through two displayed bars. This provides the ability to take standard photos and later crop them as needed.

The Samsung Kenox FX-4 also has an integrated flash with a maximum range of up to 6 meters, depending on the focal length selected. The charging time is 1 to 3 seconds.

With dimensions of 14.9 x 8.3 x 7.4 cm and a weight of 450 grams, the camera is powered by two CR 123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*). To save energy, the camera automatically turns off after 3 minutes of inactivity. The self-timer function also offers the option of taking two pictures in a row.

Film options for the Samsung Kenox FX-4

The Samsung Kenox FX-4 uses 35mm film as a film camera. A wide range of color and black and white film stocks are available, including the popular Kodak Portra 160* for color images and the Ilford XP2 Super* for Black and white shots.

The color negative films are developed using the C-41 process, a service offered by almost all photo laboratories that process 35mm film. This development is possible, for example, at most drugstore chains in Germany.
