  • Type of Film Typ 600

The Polaroid Nero is an instant camera. The range of functions of the model corresponds to the Polaroid One600 Pro. The camera was made in China. Of course, the camera is no longer produced today.

The dominant color of the camera body can probably be deduced from the name. The plastic case has a high-gloss black finish.

The Polaroid Nero is characterized by its uncomplicated handling. Most of the setting options common to other types of cameras have been left out. Due to its simplicity, it can be used on many different occasions.

The basic settings are fixed on the camera. Any choice or free choice of shutter speed and aperture is not possible. The lens is permanently installed and not interchangeable. It has a focal length of 100mm. The model does not have a zoom function. For clear images, a minimum distance of 60 cm should be maintained if possible.

Of course, the camera cannot be without a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. In low light conditions, the flash is particularly important. The range is up to three meters. An LED indicates that the flash is ready. There is also a mode for avoiding red eyes in the pictures.

Other functions are the self-timer and the light/dark controller for influencing the exposure. The small display shows, among other things, the number of available images in the film cassette.

Films for the Polaroid Nero

Of course, the right film material is also needed for the use of the Polaroid instant camera. The production of the original consumables has now been discontinued. A Dutch company has been producing suitable film material again since 2010.

Both color film and black and white film are available for the camera. The Polaroid Color Film for 600* is the instant film for color images. If you prefer black and white images, we recommend choosing the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films cut a fine figure in action.

One pack contains one film cartridge with eight frames. The light-sensitive film material should not come into contact with light outside the camera. Optimum storage conditions for the unexposed film material can be found in a cool and dry place.

A picture has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm cm. An area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm is provided for the actual image. The remaining area is filled with a white area. Also available are colored frame editions of Polaroid film.

Are the Instax films possibly compatible? No, Fuji films do not fit in the camera.

Batteries

What type of batteries are required for the Polaroid Nero? In this type of camera, the power source is found in the cassette containing the unexposed images. It supplies the camera with enough power to take pictures. When the film is renewed, the battery is also replaced at the same time. An additional battery is not necessary.

If the camera with film inside is not used for a long period of time, the battery may self-discharge. As a result, the camera often stops working. One can fix the problem without repairing by simply replacing the loaded film.

Alternate cameras

If you can't find the camera, you can use other options. A first possibility is the Polaroid One600 Pro. It has the same range of features. In addition, of course, the same films are exposed.

Other camera manufacturers bring a new perspective. Two non-Polaroid instant cameras are the Instax Mini 40* and LomoInstant Automat*. The film material can also still be conveniently obtained.
