The Polaroid Caperino & Peperone is a camera from Polaroid and part of the latest Polaroid 600 generation. It is an instant camera from the early 2000s. The equipment of the functions of the model is congruent with the Polaroid One600 Pro.
The model is the result of a collaboration with Colette. Colette was a French high fashion, streetwear and accessories retailer and has also worked with Lomography, among others. Caperino and Peperone were the company's mascots.
The camera body is white. Different designs are printed in black on the case, including dogs, bones and spiders. "Caperino & Peperone Élèves par Kuntzel + Deygas www.colette.fr" is written in black on the underside.
The Polaroid Caperino & Peperone is characterized by its user-friendliness. Anyone who is used to many setting options with their camera will not find what they are looking for in this model. The problem-free handling results in a low entry hurdle and thus numerous possibilities for areas of application.
The most important settings are fixed. The photographer is not allowed to set the aperture and exposure time freely. The optics have a fixed focal length. There is no provision for changing the lens.
A zoom, as is common with smartphones, is not integrated in this model. The shortest focusing distance is 60 cm. This distance must be maintained at least in order to achieve razor-sharp results.
The Polaroid camera has a built-in flash with a range of three meters. It is used automatically. Due to the small aperture opening, the use of the flash is particularly useful indoors. A red-eye prevention mode is available on this model. Flash readiness is indicated by a small LED next to the trigger.
The instant camera also has a thread for a tripod and a self-timer. Of course, there is also the well-known light/dark controller. With this camera, the number of remaining images is not displayed analogously, but digitally on a display.
Films for the Polaroid Caperino & Peperone
Suitable instant film is indispensable for taking photos with the instant camera. The original footage is no longer produced. Films for format 600 have been produced again since 2010 in a plant in the Netherlands.
Film for color photos is available, but film for monochrome photos is also available. One possibility for color photos is the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. Monochrome images can be created with the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. In test reports, the films usually get a good rating.
One pack is enough for eight pictures. Under no circumstances should the light-sensitive material come into contact with light. Unexposed film material should be stored in a dark and dry place.
An instant film has a size of 10.8 x 8.8 cm cm. The recorded image takes up an area of 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The rest is filled with a white frame. Editions with multicolored frames are also available.
Batteries
Which batteries do you need for the camera? With this type of camera, the battery is found in the cassette along with the unexposed images. The disposable battery contains the necessary power for the power supply of the camera technology with flash. Replacing the film also ensures a fresh power source. There is no need to purchase another battery for the camera.
The film cassette and battery should not be disposed of with household waste. Due to the environmental impact, the battery should be properly recycled.
Alternative Models
If you cannot find the camera, it is advisable to resort to other options. Two popular alternatives would be the Polaroid Spirit 600* and Polaroid Job Pro*. These are models with a comparable range of functions. They also use the 600 Polaroid format.
But maybe you want to try something new. A good place to start are the LomoInstant* and Instax Mini 40*. Here, too, you can still easily purchase the film material.
