The Zenit APk is a 35mm camera. It is an SLR camera. The KMZ company produced it from 1992 to 1998. The body of the camera is black.

The lens of the Zenit APk is interchangeable. It comes with the Pentax K bayonet. The MC Helios-44K-4 is often the standard lens. There is no autofocus function on the Zenit APk. The focus is set manually.

The camera has a built-in light meter. The SLR determines the exposure when metering through the lens (TTL). Depending on the photographer’s preference, the aperture and exposure time can be selected. A bulb mode is available for long exposures. Here, the shutter remains open as desired. An external flash unit can be connected via hot shoe.

Films for the Zenit APk

The Zenit APk exposes 35mm films. These are still easy to get today and are still being developed. One option for color images is the Kodak Ultramax 400* and the AgfaPhoto APX 400* for black and white photos.

The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. The C-41 process is performed by almost all photo labs. The cost of development is usually between 2 and 5 euros, depending on the services of the photo lab.

The B&W film must be developed in the photochemistry suitable for black and white images. You can also send the film to the lab for development, but better results are obtained if you develop the film yourself.

The advantages of developing at home are that you have full control over the images, and the cost is also lower than the cost of developing in a professional photo lab, especially if you develop several films per month.

The area of the Zenit APk negatives have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. Thus, 36 exposures are usually possible per film (135-36). The film must be rewound manually by the photographer. The 35 mm camera has a thread for a tripod.
