Yashica-635

The Yashica-635 is a medium format camera. It belongs to the group of two-lens reflex cameras. The range of functions of the camera is very similar to the Yashica-D.

The camera comes with a fixed lens. The name of lens is Yashikor 80mm f/3.5. There is no autofocus function on the Yashica-635. The focus is set manually and can be checked through the light shaft. The minimum distance to the subject is 100 cm.

The exposure must be measured externally. The medium format camera does not have a light meter.

The Yashica comes with a Copal MXV shutter. The shortest exposure time is 1/500 second. The camera comes with a Bulb mode. In this, the shutter is open for a variable amount of time. The use of an external flash is possible via the PC flash socket.

The medium format camera has a thread for a tripod. In addition, there is a connection for a cable release and a self-timer. No batteries are required for taking pictures.

Films for the Yashica-635

The Yashica-635 is designed for medium format. There are still some producers of fresh film stock for this film format. Possible films for the Yashica-635 are the Kodak Ektar 100* and the Ilford XP2 Super*.

The Yashica-635 captures the images in 6×6 on the film. The film is manually wound to the next image. After just twelve frames, the medium format film is full, no comparison to the 36 exposures of a 35mm film. Therefore, the ability to expose 35mm film has been added. The conversion kit includes a pressure plate, an attachment for the film cartridge, and a roll for holding the exposed film stock. There is a rewind winch on the side of the camera.

The medium format camera is only available in used condition. The value of a used Yashica-635 depends mainly on its condition. As a rule, it is somewhat higher than that of a Yashica-D.
