What is the difference between the Lomo LC-A and the LC-A+?

What are the differences between the classic Lomo LC-A and the Lomo LC-A+, the new edition of Lomography?

The original Lomo LC-A was manufactured by Lomo PLC in Russia. After the end of production a new edition with some new features was presented by the Lomographic Society. The Plus is produced in China.

Optically the cameras differ only slightly. On the upper side of the camera, however, it quickly becomes clear which LC-A it is, as the correct name is written there.

Whether it is the old LC-A or the Plus can be seen on the front of the camera. The new LC-A+ has only one lever (small pin for focusing) on the front side. The old LC-A has two levers, one to focus and one to set a fixed aperture and exposure time. This lever is especially interesting when using a flash to select the aperture yourself.

The LC-A+ lacks the possibility to check the set distance directly in the viewfinder.

Furthermore, the ISO ranges of the light meter of the cameras differ. The LC-A ranges from ISO 25 to ISO 400, the LC-A+ from ISO 100 to ISO 1600. If you shoot low-sensitivity films or like highly overexposed red scale films the old LC-A is better. But if you want to use high sensitive films or push a black and white film in low light you should use the LC-A with the plus.

The LC-A+ has a switch for multiple exposures, but these can be made a bit more complicated with the old LC-A. Only the Plus has a connection for a cable release. Furthermore, only the LC-A+ can be used with Lomography accessories such as the splitter or lenses. Most classic LC-A’s cannot be used with the underwater housing from Lomography either.
