The Trekpleister 200 color negative film was once sold by the Dutch drugstore chain under its own brand and was intended primarily for amateur photographers. It was manufactured by an external supplier. Today, this film is no longer in the product range of Trekpleister, which is now part of the A.S. Watson Group.

The Trekpleister 200 was used to capture conventional color images. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the film should be exposed at an ISO sensitivity of 200. The ISO value describes the light sensitivity of the film material. Higher sensitivity is achieved by using higher ISO values, which can allow shorter exposure times or smaller apertures.

Film processing

Once the film is fully exposed, it is developed using the C-41 process, which is offered at most German photo labs. This process is standardized, so the Trekpleister 200 can be developed at Rossmann or DM-Markt, for example, to obtain developed film strips containing the captured images.

Subsequently, usually either digital versions are created or conventional photo prints are made. Many laboratories directly offer the production of prints in various sizes as a service.

To convert negatives to digital formats, a scanner can be used. There are a variety of devices for digitizing negatives with different features and quality levels. There are options to fit every budget.

After the images are digitized, they can be shared on various social media platforms or produced in printed form.

Availability and possible alternatives

The Trekpleister 200 was available exclusively in 35mm format. Usually 36 frames fit on a roll of film. The film cassette was DX encoded, allowing some camera models to automatically adjust the film’s sensitivity. A variant with ISO 200 was also available.

Since this color film is no longer in production, the Kodak Gold 200* could be considered as a replacement for 35mm film.
