Sunscope 35X

The Sunscope 35X is a 35mm camera. It was produced by the company Haking and sold under the trade mark. The production took place in Hong Kong, which was then controlled by Great Britain. The original name of the model is “Halina 35X“.

The camera comes with a fixed focal length. The name of the lens is “Halina Anastigmat 1:3.5 / 45mm”. The focal length is 45mm and the largest aperture of the lens is f/3.5. The 35mm photo camera has no autofocus. The lens is focused manually. The minimum distance to the subject must be 1m.

Correct exposure cannot be measured by the Sunscope 35X as it has no light meter. The aperture and exposure time can be adjusted as desired.

The camera comes with a bulb setting. An optional external flash can be used via the provided PC flash socket. The Sunscope 35X offers the possibility to connect a cable release and has a thread for a tripod.

At a weight of 550 grams the size of the Sunscope 35X is 11,4 x 7,6 x 6,7 cm. For the picture taking you do not need any batteries.

Films for the Sunscope 35X

The Sunscope 35X is designed for 35mm films. 35mm films are still produced by different producers. Possible films for the model are the Kodak Portra 400* for color shots and the Ilford HP5* for b/w photos.

The color film is being developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most development laboratories.

The exposure area of the camera has a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. As a rule, 36 shots are possible per film (135-36) at this negative size. For the next frame, the photographer has manually wind the camera.

The Sunscope 35X is no longer manufactured. The price for a used copy of the depends on the condition and functionality.
