Ricoh Singlex TLS

The Ricoh Singlex TLS is an SLR camera. It was introduced by Ricoh in the 1960s. The model was built by Cosina and sold under the Japanese brand “Ricoh”. This model was also sold as Porst Uniflex Reflex TTL (Porst Reflex TTL) in Germany, Interflex 7L5 in France, and Sears TLS and Kmart Focal TLX in America.

The lens of the Ricoh Singlex TLS is interchangeable. It comes with an M42 thread. The M42 thread was very common in the past, so there are many lenses available for this thread. The lens thread was developed by Carl Zeiss in Jena. Big producers of M42 lenses were Pentax, Zeiss, Pentacon and KMZ. The lens is focused manually. The Ricoh Singlex TLS does not have an autofocus.

The Ricoh Singlex TLS has a built-in light meter. It is designed for an ISO range of 25 to 1600. The correct exposure is measured through the lens of the SLR camera. The aperture and exposure time can be freely selected.

The Ricoh Singlex TLS has a bulb mode, for example for long exposures. The shutter remains open as desired. A flash can be used via the PC flash socket. The Ricoh Singlex TLS can be triggered by the self-timer or with an additional cable release. A thread for a tripod is provided.

The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.8 x 9.2 x 5.3 cm. It weighs 720 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera is a PX675 1.35V mercury battery.

Films for the Ricoh Singlex TLS

The Ricoh Singlex TLS exposes 35mm film. The 35mm format is the most common film format. Therefore, some manufacturers still produce for this format. Great color shots are possible with Kodak Portra 160*. The AgfaPhoto APX 400* is an excellent choice for black and white images.
