Price List: Film Development at Rossmann

Similar to other German drugstore chains, Rossmann also offers the possibility of developing photographic films. The films are dropped off at a branch, and individual preferences, such as the desired size of the photo prints, are communicated. Subsequently, the films are sent to a large laboratory where they are processed. After development, they are returned to the branch, where they can be picked up and paid for.

A significant factor in development at Rossmann is the cost. These vary greatly and depend on the film format and type of film.

Generally, a development fee is charged. Additionally, costs for prints or digitization are incurred. For certain film formats, prints (first copies) are mandatory and must be ordered even if not desired.

The number of prints made naturally depends on the format and length of the film. In the following overview, we assume 36 (35mm) or 12 (medium format) prints.

35mm Films

As the most used and widespread film format in photography, 35mm is characterized by its handy size and outstanding popularity. With a width of 35mm, 35mm films offer space for 24 or 36 exposures, providing sufficient flexibility for various photographic requirements. The high demand for cameras and accessories for the 35mm format reflects its popularity in the photography community. Due to its wide range of applications, it is the preferred choice of many photographers for different types of images.

Color Negative Films (C-41)

Most color films are developed using the C-41 process, and this information is noted on the film cartridges. The cartridges are marked with the codes C-41, CN-16, CNK-4, or AP-70, depending on the development type.

Slide Films (E6)

Slide films are developed using the E6 process, and after the development process is complete, the slides are available. It is not possible to make prints during the development process. Only the development costs are incurred.

Black and White Films

It is also possible to have black and white films developed. However, it is important to note that this service does not involve individual development of the films. For those who desire absolute control and optimal results, it is therefore recommended to develop the films independently.

Medium Format Films

The use of roll films in medium format opens up new possibilities in photography, as they offer a larger area for exposures compared to the conventional 35mm format. Professional photographers appreciate the higher image quality and increased flexibility that this type of film provides.
