The Polaroid Viva is an instant camera. It was produced by Polaroid mainly for the camera market in the Caribbean. The camera probably dates back to the 1980s.
The Polaroid Viva camera is made of plastic, so it wasn’t too expensive or of high quality. The housing of the camera is black. Unlike other models from this period, the camera cannot be folded. On the back there is a manual with instructions for use.
The focus of the lens cannot be changed. For sharp images, keep at least 120 cm away from the subject. With an additional portrait lens, it was also possible to take pictures at a distance of 60 cm. Another accessory was an external flash. The exposure can be slightly changed with a wheel (light-dark control) on the front.
The camera is designed for the Polaroid Viva format (type 80) of the same name. This kind of instant film is called separation film. Unfortunately, Polaroid or Polaroid Originals, the successor, no longer produces films for this format.
