Polaroid Sun 635 QS

The Polaroid Sun 635 QS is a photo camera. It belongs to the group of instant cameras. The range of functions offered by the model coincides with the Polaroid One Step Flash. Of course, the production of the camera was discontinued long ago.

The body of the camera is kept in the colors black and silver. Color accents are the Polaroid rainbow and the red shutter button. Next to the lens is the imprint “QS Program”.

One advantage of the Polaroid Sun 635 QS is its user-friendliness. If you’re used to a lot of settings on your camera, you won’t find them on this model. The ease of use allows for a low barrier to entry and thus many possible uses. For example, it is a good choice for parties and weddings. It is also a reliable companion during vacations.

The most important settings are preset. Free setting of exposure time and aperture is not possible. The camera is equipped with a fixed lens. Many of today’s cameras have a zoom function. This function is not available on this model. So instead of pressing the zoom button, you should get closer to the subject until it fills the picture. To get razor-sharp images, it is recommended to keep a minimum distance of 120 cm from the subject.

Of course, this model also has a built-in flash. The flash fires automatically. This is especially useful for indoor shots, as the camera needs a lot of light for clear pictures.

Films for the Polaroid Sun 635 QS

Quite important for the instant camera are the appropriate photo films. The camera manufacturer, Polaroid, has given up production. A new company has been selling material for the film format again since 2010.

In the stores you can find a black and white and a color film. Colorful instant photos are possible with the Polaroid Color Film for 600*. If you prefer black and white pictures, it is recommended to choose the Polaroid B&W Film for 600*. Both films can give good results in tests.

The contents of one box are eight photos. The light-sensitive material must not come into contact with light under any circumstances. Good conditions for prolonged storage of the unused material can be found in a cool place.

Each of the eight pictures measures 10.8 x 8.8 cm. The 600 cameras take square pictures measuring 7.7 by 7.7 cm. The leftover area of the Polaroid image is filled in by a white area. Editions with colorful frames are also offered.

Caution. Fujifilm instant films are unsuitable for the Polaroid Sun 635 QS.

Batteries

Do I need a specific type of battery for the Polaroid camera? The camera’s power source is a battery inside the film cassette. The disposable battery contains the necessary energy for the camera technology with flash. So changing the film also replaces the battery at the same time. There is no need for an additional battery.

If the camera with film inside has not been used for a long time, the battery may have discharged. Of course, in the absence of sufficient power supply, the camera will no longer work. To do this, simply remove the photo film and replace it with new film stock.
